Rev. Hughes is the Chief Executive Officer of a Metro a faith based organization that focuses on poverty. In the last 15 years, under his leadership, Metro has grown from 3 employees to 14 employees and three sites to 12 sites in three states. In 2013, Metro served 51,000.
In addition, Rev. Hughes has co-founded the – Faith Based Leadership Training Institute at San Diego State University that trained over 100 pastors from 18 denominations how to connect their church to communities in practical ways.
Rev. Hughes has served as the CEO of an international relief organization which conducted projects in Africa, Caribbean, Europe and Mexico. He has also served in several small and large congregation as an associate, executive and senior pastor.
His consulting clients include: the City of San Diego, the County of San Diego and several non profit and faith based organizations.
He is a former Adjunct Professor at the University of San Diego and a Lecturer at San Diego State University, School of social work and a current adjunct professor at Bethel Seminary in San Diego
He is a member of the County of San Diego Social Service Advisory Board, a member of the Juvenile Justice Coordinating Council.
He is one of the founding members of the San Diego Interfaith Disaster Coalition.
He is the creator of a model of community development – Church Based Community Development which provides a conceptual and practical framework for churches to play multiple roles in their community.
In his spare time he loves to bicycle and spend time with his wife of 29 years and their two lovely, talented and Godly daughters.
