Honoring Women

From Undergraduate Chapel: Spring 2013

Katelyn Beaty, managing editor of Christianity Today and co-founder of Hermeneutics, shares the stories of prominent women who helped found Biola. She explains that the stories of these women as well as women in Scripture are critically important to share with women today. Beaty shows that Christianity has a strong history of valuing women, and encourages her audience to continue to show honor between the genders.

In 1943 a BIOLA Bible woman taught a S.S. class at a Loa Angeles children's "rest home" (children under observation & recuperation). I was a patient there, heard the story of the Good Shepherd & I raised my hand, received Christ as my Savior & never doubted or questioned my salvation since. In Jr. Hi & HS a Bible woman taught the Eudoia Clubs which I attended & memorized scripture for local contests. My teacher was amazing, she could take the most boring chapter in the Bible & make it real with even a spiritual application. Some of these women could give some pastors & seminary teachers a "run for their money" in their knowledge & application of the Bible. It took churches a long time to start Bible Study classes in their churches even after having the example of BIOLA.
