In celebration of Biola University's 105th birthday, Paul W. Rood (History) gave a lecture on "The Legacy of Lyman Stewart to Biola," commenting on the "spiritual founding of Biola" on February 25, 1908, and an overview of Biola founder Lyman Stewart's life drawing from personal letters in the Biola Archive. No single individual shaped the ideals and vision of Biola as profoundly as the pioneer oilman and evangelical Christian layman Lyman Stewart (1840-1923). A question/answer period followed. Paul W. Rood is a retired corporate executive, and lecturer in politics and economics at Biola. Prof. Rood is writing a comprehensive historical biography of Lyman Stewart. His wife, Judith Mendelsohn Rood, is professor of Middle Eastern History at Biola. Paul's grandfather, Paul W. Rood, served as Biola's third president from 1935 to 1938.
